THE DAVID G. LENNOL MEMORIAL FOUNDATION

DAVID LENNOL was a young man of great and generous spirit who touched the lives of all who knew him. He had a special fondness for children and they for him. David was taken from this world far too soon, before he had children of his own and before his formal philanthropic life could blossom. In his memory and spirit the DGL Memorial Foundation was born, his family proudly taking his giving light forward.

The DGL Memorial Foundation is appealing to persons of conscience to reach out and help children affected by AIDS in Cambodia and Thailand. Unlike other far larger foundations, DGL is quite open and welcomes  the personal involvement of its benefactors. DGL's role is to help fund the very best of the under-funded groups doing selfless, difficult and loving work to help these children and their families.

The amount of waste, graft and mismanagement that goes on with most--yes most--large charities and NGO's would shock you. The money that actually gets to the ground--your money--is a small fraction of what you donate, and nothing near what they claim. Not so with DGL, where virtually all of your  money gets to the ground, gets to the children, where its supposed to!

We are/will be attempting to raise raise money in three ways:

 - An International Photo Contest Thematic to Children

 - A coalition of photography groups around the United States and the world hosting model search events/parties centered on kids. For a small parental donation, all participating children will have their pictures taken and printed onto a handsome! Certificate of Participation, and be considered to appear in the DGL Foundation photography book featuring Children of the World.

 - Corporate and individual donations and purchases of photographs on this website, including images donated by renowned Australian photographer Alastair McNaughton. See DGL Gallery

Public involvement is of course, crucial. Would you or your club/group/association be interested in organizing a DGL event in your town? No parameters, it could be anything from a simple BBQ to a Beach Bash to a Concert to a Children’s Play, anything at all to get the people out and feeling philanthropic. Think how meaningful of a learning experience it would be for your own kids to be able to reach out and help other kids far less fortunate than themselves.

Please feel free to contact us with your thoughts and ideas.

Sincerely,

The David G. Lennol Memorial Foundation

His father dead from AIDS, this boy must scavenge to keep his HIV positive mother and family in rice. He hates it and has become drug addicted. DGL, through Brahma Vihara, has helped him into rehab, enrolled him in trade school, and is supplying sustenance to the family.    Photo: Bennett Stevens

All of these children living at a Maryknoll group home are AIDS affected, with parents either dead or sick. Three are HIV positive.
